I started using YNAB (You Need a Budget) personal finance software several years ago. The idea is to budget based on cash on hand. Don't have enough money in a budget category to fund that purchase? I have to find it elsewhere in my budget, or I don't spend.
You're 100% right...it is credit, it just doesn't feel the same because it's not a standard credit card so people get more comfortable. And amen, if I don't have the cash, I don't buy it.
