Master Yourself
Ever try to focus on something dark at night?
Example…I tried to spot my black cat in my dark living. When I would stare directly at her I could barely see her. But when I’d look at another area she became clear in my peripheral vision.
Riveting tale, amiright? Anyway…
The important part is that the same concept works mentally.
You have this main focus that you’re always trying to see. The harder you fight to see it, the less clear it is.
Instead, let your mind relax and wander off to other areas and you’ll be surprised at how clear your vision becomes.
Whether you want to use meditation or daydreaming or something else, just try it.
I just lie down in silence and let my mind wander to whatever it wants, for as long as I need. It almost always brings clarity.
Ex. I wanted to figure out what I wanted to do career wise. I kept trying to ask pointed questions and focus on the answers. Nothing was happening. So I relaxed and it hit me. Business analysis. This was a job that met at the apex point- what I’m good at and what I love.
Try it.
Master Your Money
Recently we bought a struggling friend of a friend a gift card so she could get her children Christmas gifts.
We did this just to do it, no strings attached.
A couple weeks later our friend came back and it turns out she's in a position to provide a ton of business to my girlfriend (commercial insurance). And my girlfriend is her top choice from now on.
Generosity often comes back around to find you.
But I find it works best when you don't keep score.
Think in these terms: Build relationships instead of transactions.

Want to be a Successful Writer? Be ‘Real Life’
I’m back in school and I forgot how bad the writing is here. The APA styling, the monotony, the itch to find stupid ass filler words that we all scratch, the boring topics. All of it sucks.
Term papers serve some purpose I suppose, but school does not teach you how to write well.
It’s writing that’s boring and time consuming and offers very little in value.
Good writing, on the other hand, is entertaining and inspiring. Your midterm is anything but.
Typically giving or getting advice on writing better makes me roll my eyes harder than a kid listening to a dad joke. But these pointers are the best I’ve come across.
Write how you talk is pretty solid advice. The world wants to hear your voice. Or at least it doesn’t want to hear you pretend to be someone it’s already hearing. You don’t have to try and be Tim Denning. He’s already doing a good job being Tim. Be utterly unique, or you probably shouldn’t bother.
Be a little bit controversial. Nobody wants to read safe writing. We want to feel something. We either want to feel very strongly that we agree. Or we want to argue with you about how wrong you are.
Be strangely specific. Not everyone will know what you’re talking about, and that’s okay. Your writing shouldn’t be for everyone. If it is, then it’s really for no one.
Be stupid helpful. When I tell you about how I’m investing my money and you try it, maybe you suddenly find your net worth 5x higher than it was. That’s incredible value. You should be seeking to add that kind of value.
Write in active tones, not passive ones. It makes your sentences easier to understand and keeps them from being excessively long.
Thanks for reading! If you found this valuable, please share with someone who could use it. See you next Saturday!
