Master Yourself
Stop stressing over happiness.
We’re never happy.
So stop trying.
My dad worked for a big bank for many years.
He told me a story about how when they moved offices to a new location, a co-worker whose commute had been an hour now had a 5 minute ride.
He was pumped.
And then a month later he was complaining because every day he caught this 1 red light.
That red light added 1 minute to his commute.
He was pissed.
Let’s take you for example. Let’s say you make 50k/year.
Then your boss comes to you and gives you a raise. You now make 75k/year.
You’re very happy.
2 months later you think “damn I should be making 90k/year”.
We always want more more more.
Humans didn’t become what we are by being satisfied.
So just focus on the process of life. Your daily habits. Gratitude. Exercise. Relationships. All that stuff.
Outcomes don’t provide the happiness we’re chasing. But processes can keep us content.
Master Your Money
“Money’s greatest intrinsic value — and this can’t be overstated — is its ability to give you control over your time.” - Morgan Housel
Money is a tool. Tools are meant to be used.
By the way, knowledge is a tool too. Use it as such.
Anyway, it’s good to remember money is not inherently valuable. What it gets you is what’s valuable. So what do you want?
I want to build wealth so I can buy my freedom, time, experiences.
You probably do too.

How I Expedited My Success
We all have to do lists or at least a jumble of things in our head that have to get done.
I used to keep a To Do list and do my best to measure 8 metrics (body, mind, relationships, family, social, career, finances, spirituality).
That’s a lot of stuff to measure and remember and take care of on a day to day.
So, I decided to create a better system.
A big game changer for me was turning an unruly To Do list into a streamlined Must Do List. The word “must” is deeply psychological. You tend to just get it done.
I note the top 3–5 things I need to do the next day, every evening. Then I get them done no matter what. A minimalist Must Do List.
Then I reduced the aforementioned 8 metrics into my Core Four. This step sent my productivity into overdrive.
I built all of my daily habits around my Core Four (health, relationships, finances & work) so that my purpose in any given day, week, month, etc. is very clear.
So that’s it:
Change long To Do lists into focused Must Do Lists.
Create core pillars to build your daily habits around.

Here’s a (fuzzy) picture of Lisa (my gf) and I from the Sixers game last Sunday. We were only 7 rows off the floor, watching the real MVP (Joel Embiid) go to work. Have a great upcoming week!
I'm assuming here that your to do list still is backlogged somewhere and eventually makes it to your must do list?
