Five to Focus on:
In a noisy world, it’s hard to know what’s good out there. Let me help.
Quote to ponder: “The most common reaction of the human mind to achievement is not satisfaction, but craving for more.” - Yuval Noah Harrari
Stock to consider: IMMR (Immersion Corp.)
They’re a developer and licensor of touch feedback technology, also known as haptic technology. The more connected user experience will be a huge theme in the future.
Disclaimer- this is not financial advice, I am not a financial advisor, and you should always do your own research.
Book to read: Tools and Weapons by Brad Smith
Technology is our future and you should read everything you can about the topic. Before we know it, literally everything will be linked to the digital world. Most things already are. And it’s happened at such a rapid speed that we’re really not prepared for it.
Show to enjoy: The Bear on Hulu
The restaurant show you didn’t know you needed to see. Restaurant drama wasn’t top of my list either but now I’m (im)patiently waiting for season 2. It’s raw and hits you right in all the feels.
Beer to sip: Just a Twist from The Bruery
The Bruery typically delves into dessert inspired stouts and ales (be sure to check those out, they’re DELICIOUS), but here it went summer basic. And craft beer lovers rejoiced at the tasty simplicity of a well-done wit ale.
Master Yourself
When our leaders don’t care about us, it’s hard for us to care about them and, more importantly, the overall mission.
That’s why owners and C-level executives need to clearly understand how important managers, at every level, are to their overall business goals.
Employees don’t really work for the company or the customers- they work for their direct manager. If you have a great leader in place, you’ll get great results. If you allow a bad manager to reign, the results will be average, at best.
So, if you’re going to bother running a business, make sure management aligns with your values. And if you are a manager or leader, make sure you actually care about your people. This can’t just be about money or a mission.
This applies to any leadership role- parent, teacher, Boy Scout leader, soccer coach. You need to care about the people you’re leading. Who they are as people, want they want out of their role, what their aspirations are.
Your job is to serve your people, not to be served.
Master Your Money
You & Me
Before you take advice from someone, make sure you’re playing the same game.
I won’t be taking advice from day traders. It’s not my style. It’s not my game.
And if you’re 65 you won’t want to play my long game. You don’t have another 30 years to chill and wait.
Take advice from people playing the same game as you who are doing well at it.
What works for me won’t necessarily work for you. Pay attention to the game.
Weekly Special
How I Grew My Earnings 140,809% in Less Than a Year
You read that title correctly. Do you know how much I earned my first month online?
11 cents.
LOL.
You read that right too. Now I’m clearing 4 figures a month, with room to grow (obviously).
Of course there are more successful people than me, but you can’t argue with that percentage increase. In less than a year!
During my first few months I posted content sporadically. First I was only posting 3 times per week, then it was 4 and now in the past few months it’s been 7 days a week.
So what two things do I credit this earnings increase to?
Consistency and quality.
Doing something for a month, or even a year, isn’t going to get you the results you want. It’s consistency over years that will lead you where you want to be. Create quality habits and stick to them.
And as the consistency increases the quality can’t drop off. When I started writing more, I couldn’t be worse. I had to maintain the quality I prefer to put out. No filler, no junk.
So pick your posting habit (has to be at least once a week) and then do it, every single week. Even when you don’t feel like it. But don’t force yourself to write 7 pieces of content every week unless you can keep your quality up.
Thanks for reading and if you found this valuable, please share with someone who could use it. See you next Saturday!
