Oh, by the way, if you’re feeling generous, please share this newsletter with a friend.
Five to Focus on:
In a noisy world, it’s hard to know what’s good out there. Let me help.
Quote to ponder: “Don’t chase people. Be yourself, do your own thing and work hard. The right people — the ones who really belong in your life — will come to your. And stay.” - Will Smith
Stock to consider: PIN (Invesco India ETF).
Based on the FTSE India Quality And Yield Select Index (Index). The Fund will normally invest at least 90% of its total assets in securities that comprise the Index as well as American depositary receipts and global depositary receipts based on the securities in the Index.
Disclaimer- this is not financial advice, I am not a financial advisor, and you should always do your own research.
Book to read: Mind Hacking by Sir John Hargrave.
Plenty of real life stories wrapped in solid, actionable advice from an entertaining author. Hargrave is an alcoholic who hacked his way into sobriety and realized he could use those same tools to hack his entire life. It’s a good read that I’ll revisit a few times I’m sure.
Show to enjoy: Doom Patrol on HBO Max.
It’s a unique show about a band of misfit “superheroes”. They’ve all suffered some horrible tragedy but have to come together to save the world. There’s a ton of unexpected emotional depth in the absurd story that unravels here.
Beer to sip: MoZee from Toppling Goliath.
It’s a world class hazy IPA. Shouldn’t that be enough? If not, someone described it as: “a beer that drinks like a dream.” Fruit and pine very well balanced, and at 6.2% it goes (relatively) easy on the liver.
Master Yourself
For our purposes here let’s define what I mean by consumption and creation.
Consumption: consistently partaking in/purchasing other peoples’ content, products and services.
Creation: consistently offering/selling content, products and services to other people.
Now, you know which one is preferable. Creating. Humans are wired to work and innovate and be creators.
But we’re also wired to be lazy and status quo and consumers.
So, don’t feel guilty about consuming. You can both consume and create. In fact I consume a lot which allows me to create a lot. Just be mindful of WHAT you’re consuming. Is it all junk?
Consumption is actually necessary for creation. But what you consume matters, a lot. It needs to be quality. Much like your body reflects your diet…your mind and your outputs reflect your content consumption and inputs.
Ultimately, inputs = outputs, which determine our outcomes.
Master Your Money
A recession is likely.
But, the advice remains the same as always.
- Emergency fund
- Long term investing
- Living within your means
- Building multiple income streams
Weekly Special:
The Quick Guide to the Financial Future
There is a lot going in the cryptocurrency world. Yes, we know everyone’s getting rich on Bitcoin and Dogecoin (maybe?) right now. But there is way more to it than that. And I know it’s confusing to many of us.
But, these concepts are mandatory to understand as we march toward Web 3.0 (read more: https://coinmarketcap.com/alexandria/article/what-is-web-3-0) and a financial future that looks very different from our past or even our present.
I wanted to create a resource where you could find the best info to get started, all in one spot. I think I’ve done a decent job of that. This is by no means all of the info you could want or need on the subject, but this a great resource (with links to really great articles and videos) to get you started.
Cryptocurrency
Digital assets. Individual coin ownership records are maintained in a ledger that exists in the form of a computerized database, and strong cryptography is used to protect transaction records, monitor the production of additional coins, and verify the transfer of coin ownership.
