Master Yourself
I would but I don’t know how.
If I had more time, I could do it.
I just need more money before I can start.
Stop me if you’ve heard these kind of lines before. In fact, you’ve probably said them yourself.
You see the problem with the sentences above is they don’t serve you. They actually rob you of your personal power. So, be on the lookout for when you find yourself using the words but, if and just.
They’re weak words. Excuse making words. They cheapen your life.
They have no place in your vocabulary anymore.
Master Your Money
I’m in the process of switching bank accounts as I type this.
Is it annoying? Yes.
But, an hour or two of my time for an additional 850 dollars feels worth it.
See, I’ve been at a bank where my money market was earning .05% (gross).
And now I’m moving to a bank where I’ll get 250 dollars for opening the account + a 3.75% rate.
Over the course of 2023 this will total a positive return of 800+ dollars.
I’d say an hourly rate is worth at least 400 bucks, amiright?
Weekly Special
How to Build an A+ Career in 7 Steps
James Clear has a very simple flow to follow here. 7 steps that lead to the kind of career we all want.
If you’re going to spend 40 years doings something, you may as well do it very well and enjoy it.
1. Do great work
This is a no-brainer. Everything begins with the actual quality of what you’re putting out.
If you don’t do a great job, little else on the list matters.
2. Share it publicly
If you don’t share it, no one’s going to come find it.
So when you do things that matter, that will add value- get them out there in front of eyes.
3. Cold email people 2 steps ahead of you
Mentorship is the fastest way to progress.
But you don’t want to reach too high. Jeff Bezos isn’t going to be mentoring you. But that executive 2 rungs above you? He or she just might.
4. Talk about your work and trade ideas
Don’t hoard ideas. Social media is so popular because we share things.
People want to hear what you’re working on, when you care about it. And they want you to ask them what they’re doing.
5. Host events and meet in-person
Net worth = network. We’ve all heard it. It’s true.
You need to be around people who also want to build their careers.
6. Become friends
People help people they like. Friendship means you care about someone. That you keep an eye out for them.
You should aim to be a good friend as often as you can.
7. Rise together
It’s much easier to find success when you have a team around you and you’re all helping each other.
I like to level up and then reach back to pull others up with me.
Thanks for reading! If you found this valuable, please share with someone who could use it. See you next Saturday!
